And also a marker of affluence. If the study had drilled down deeper on disproportionate representation, it would have identified Wall Street dickheads who frequent NYC steakhouses having outsized consumption all on their own.
This cracked me up as I remember the last time some asshole called me “soy boy.” It’s kind of funny because I’m pretty sure some of their meat-only diet including taking protein powder. And guess what, that thing main ingredients include soybeans.
Do they think their protein powder made from blenderized cow meat? Behold the power of marketing. /S
My partner (a woman) definitely prefers red meat more than I. I mean I was vegetarian for almost half my life before starting to eat meat again in the last 10 years or so. Still she likes steak and I’m always left thinking this would taste better sliced up on some tortillas with onions, cilantro or cut up and tossed with pasta and vegetables or served with melty cheese, tomato, peppers on bread. I mean I can still appreciate a steak and prefer it rare or raw even but I don’t get the obsession with it and will always think it is better with some carbs/fiber/cheese.
well if they actually do care and can read… there’s whey protein powder. I have no clue and don’t care if soy vs whey really makes any difference personally.
This seems like good news: we can get a 44% reduction of emissions from beef by whacking some sense into 12% of the population, and another ~30% reduction by moving every cow to better diets (grass, moisture, distiller’s grains, fat, smaller particle size).
The Pareto Principle at work again
Decades of gender affirming care for women hasn’t dulled my appreciation for a good steak. I’ll talk to my Doctor about that.
It’s the same as the idiotic male need to burn fossil fuel in small cylinders to propel vehicles. Why anyone gives a crap how the motive force is generated is beyond me.
And I love a good steak. But it’s pretty much limited to special occasions, maybe twice a year, and out. I’m man enough to let someone else cook it for me. They’ll do it better anyway!
