I drove an oversized duallie for a while back in the day. It was my dad’s, and it was oversize because he put a Dana Spicer rear end intended for a tow truck under an F-150 crew cab. It was dark green and you could ride the white line and the curb simultaneously on smaller roads. But it must have looked enough like a Crown Vic anyway, because I had the exact same experience as you.
Plus, even if you don’t get ticketed, there’s still an automatic penalty enforced at the gas pump.
