There’s a trope that often occurs in both documentary film and fictional movies set in the 1930’s, where you start with a normal, pleasant scene of everyday life…happy families, kids playing in the park, young lovers canoodling, etc…and then the camera pans past a swastika in the background, jolting the audience but unnoticed by the subjects.
I have a somewhat similar reaction whenever I’m watching film from the USA. That fucking flag is everywhere.
