The murder charge on which they are serving life is a state charge, and a future gov (agree with @anon61221983, not the current gov, but life is a long time) could certainly do so.

Oh yeah… I think the GOP in GA has to walk a fine line. There is a not insignificant GOP powerbase in and around ATL who are at odds with the Trumpian fringe which tends to be out in the more rural parts of the state. The more urban GOP understand that the kind of open bigotry Trumpism is bad for business and the state GOP prides itself on its record of attracting business to the state.

It’s been 2 years since he was gunned down by violent racists. And all three men will spend the rest of their lives in prison (most likely). It’s no comfort to his family and friends, but it’s something at least.

I’d really like to know why park police have firearms and are authorized to perform traffic stops? In the City proper, the only parks I can think of with any roads in them are Loring and Lake Harriet/Lake of the Isles. With parks departments generally underfunded in the US, it seems like a ridiculous liability for a parks employee to be granted anything more than very limited ticket writing authority.
Also, dafuq Minnesota, why haven’t you decriminalized weed possession or removed it from the list of primary offenses? Nancy Reagan was a long time ago, you didn’t vote for her husband, twice, and everything she said about drugs in general, and marijuana specifically, was a total lie.
