That is an intense, motivating read. We have a small Black population here, but an exceedingly large Hispanic one. I notice that this population seems to expect referrals to specialists for everything, not trusting me to treat even very simple yhings like colds, allergies or ear infections. When i tell them i can do that, but it will take a good bit of time to get an appt, they often get angry with me. Not sure where that comes from, maybe in theur homes, PCPs don’t treat? Wecalso have a large Russian population which catagorically, vehemently and vocally will not vaccinate. They will not hear my discussion of the subject, and i assume it has to do with their experiences back home. I actively work to ensure fair and equal treatment in my office, and yet i find i cannot reach some folks. I just do not know or understand enough of the background of these guys and don’t know where to go to find it, let alone find the time to do so. And i certainly can’t change their history. My profession has a lot to answer for. I can only hope and work towards doing much better going forward.
