I saw Arlo perform Plane Wreck at Los Gatos a few years back and comment that it could have been written today. He said something like, “On the one hand, it’s nice that my dad’s work is still relevant even after 70 years. On the other, it’s too bad the world still sucks.”

sidebar: I always felt that Denzel’s Oscar for Training Day was a consolation for being passed over for his portrayal of Rubin Carter–a transcendent performance.
