OK, good, but can we now go after tracking and hoarding of massive data files ripe for exploitation by thieves and other businesses?

I often criticize California for over-regulating things, but this is one law I’ll heartily support.

So, does that mean that if they sign me up without me asking them that they also need to cancel without me asking them?

I recently got a letter from a credit card company saying that I was automatically enrolled in a service I didn’t want, but that I could opt out by sending a snail mail request to each of three separate locations asking to be removed.

It has long been a maddening area of companies making it as hard as possible to cancel things while still claiming to meet the legal requirement of giving people the option. Hopefully the feds will follow California’s lead here
