The right of course argues that this is a death spiral that only results in runaway inflation because demand vastly outstrips supply. What goes unsaid is that higher wages need to go hand in hand with higher taxes on profits, some form of supply management, or a collectivist/worker-owned model.
I know the original comment was intended at food more broadly rather than strawberries specifically, but the cost of strawberries doesn’t adequately reflect the environmental cost of their production, including the pesticides, fertilizers, irrigation and their corresponding carbon footprint.
