This is something I can hardly resist photographing when I see them. So glad others do too, and that there’re names for them (I’m partial to “bumbo”)!
This is the best one I’ve seen so far this season:

I remember as a kid, after they’d been outside for a couple days they would be gnawed on by fauna (squirrels, mice?), and I attributed their diminishing mass to the same process that caused candles to go away as they burned.
