Childhood trauma may permanently alter human DNA in some

This has always puzzled me, how altered DNA is handled. I could have many mutations in my body, but they are non active because for example a mutation in hair colour may only be in the cells of my left elbow. Or the code for a better liver is in the cells of my lungs due to an error in copying nonessential DNA into new cells. Things like that.

I guess I am just still annoyed at how Star Trek: TNG treated genetics.
