Chinese property developer has $160 million gambling debt

Doesn’t China execute guys like this?

Gambling in Macau is in a slowdown? You wouldn’t know from looking at it. It makes Vegas look quiet, quaint, and understated. That’s why Sheldon Adelson is so desperate to buy himself an American President, so he can have laws changed so he can move in on Gaming in Macau. Which tells you an awful lot about America and China.

Yes. I don’t think he has much time left.

Adelson’s company owns the Venetian casino in Macau. What laws does he need changing?

The ones saying you can’t pay bribes to people in foreign countries. Because he did this to get his casino.

The article explains. Foot traffic is up, but the high rollers are staying away, and that is where they get much of their money from.

Sorry, I misspoke. He got the casino he wanted, but wanted to buy a president to get rid of : Adelson’s company is reportedly under federal investigation over alleged violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act relating to payments made to a Macao lawyer. He spent at least 150 Million dollars to try and get rid of that charge. He lost. It could destroy his stake in Macao.

Oh dear, my heart really bleeds for those poor gambling companies…

Hang on, it doesn’t. Fuck’em.

Only when their bribes run out.

Ah, okay. That makes sense.
