Chopsticks are a massive waste problem. This company recycles them.

It seems to me like people have been trying to solve this problem for a long, long time already.

I like that you’re thinking about the full cycle, not just what to do with these after they’re already in the waste stream. Probably old news around here, but this helped me think more systematically about resource use and management:

I know it is better to reuse the resource before disposing of it but….

I do wonder how it would compare in cost and efficiency to take used disposable chopsticks and bury them in an old mine vs all the modern carbon sequestering projects. Obviously it would only scale as high as the number of used chopsticks.
