Clockwork guillotines are where it’s at.
… ahhh yes is this the “social engineering” I keep hearing about? that all the youngsters seem to be going on about?
We’ve already have the technology!
Once I sat down and actually read the first book of the Wealth of Nations (one day I’ll read the rest) and I was a little surprised how it read as a critique of capitalism. Basically it says the rich get theirs and the poor get stuffed. It’s no wonder rich people read it and thought, “this sounds like a good idea!”
IIRC, Adam Smith has no illusions about the kind of monopoly and cartel shenanigans the businesses will engage in the moment they are allowed to get away with it.
A lot of people claiming to be fans of Smith really should actually read his work, and think about it. (See also, people claiming to be fans of Jesus, who should read the Bible.)
Hey everyone, find where you keep your shocked faces and put 'em on.
With apologies that the word “socialist” [not communist] appear in the article, but Marx gets mentioned. I’m having to read this slowly. It’s dense.
Nice! But, kinda too true too.
It’s kind of a bummer that the Marx monument in Chemnitz is so far (It’s really only a couple hundred yards) from where the Weinachtsmarkt is. It would be funny to see it with a Santa hat on.
It’s a Festivus uprising!
Do they have a Peter Kropotkin Bread Santa version?
I missed his birthday
