Congress critters debate Bill to remove USA from United Nations

This can’t be a good thing. The American congress is currently debating whether the USA should withdraw completely from the United Nations. Surely the USA needs to keep it’s seat on the security council so that it can vote how Russia tells it?

Introduced by Mike Rogers:

From wiki:

Rogers was a recipient of former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay’s ARMPAC campaign contributions. DeLay was prosecuted and convicted on charges of felony money laundering of campaign finances and conspiracy to launder money. To date, Rogers has not offered to return any of the $30,000 he received. Rogers said that DeLay is innocent until proven guilty, and that he would not return the money “while the judicial process runs its course.”

Not a fan of the 1st Amendment, either:

Rogers supported an amendment to declare that people retain the right to pray and to recognize their religious beliefs, heritage, and traditions on public property, including schools. He cosponsored legislation to prohibit the physical desecration of the flag of the United States. Rogers sponsored a bill expressing the continued support of Congress for equal access of military recruiters to institutions of higher education. He also introduced legislation making it illegal to satirize or in any way parody the Transportation Security Administration.

There are not enough facepalm gifs to convey the stupidity of this.

I mean… why?! what rational is there for this?

This is not a new thing. It goes back to 2009 and it’s been introduced a couple other times. Doesn’t mean the idiots might not finally pass it now though.

How would that work? Would the UN still be able to use the UN Building, or would they have to move to another headquarters in another nation?

I’m sure China would be delighted to build a replacement toot sweet.

I’m pretty sure part of the bill would require them to move. Prime real estate for the Trump family to exploit. I mean if you think about it, it doesn’t really make sense for their headquarters to be in a country that isn’t a member.
