Continuing coronavirus happenings (Part 1)

I seriously doubt that these are the people who will also self-quarantine, wear masks and socially-distance.

I wonder how many wave a bogus piece of paper saying that Canada has to let them in “because rights”?

Is it too late to reopen nominations for the Labour Party leadership election? Because I’d like to vote for someone who at least acts like they are in the Labour Party.

Wait, did he just link to the Daily Heil?

That’s who interviewed him.

The only plausible explanation I can think of for his statement is that (a) he’s trying to draw some subtle-but-important distinction between “moral duty” (BJ’s term) and “moral responsibility” (Starmer’s), and also (b) that he’s somehow taking for granted that “opening schools” means “opening schools safely”. Since England is not taking sufficient measures to be able to do the latter, it sets up a followup attack on Johnson. Maybe. Starmer is the guy for which the British coined their expression “too clever by half”.

i’m honored that cnn decided to focus a whole article on my family. they’ve really struggled hard in their lives to stand out, and it’s really great to see them get the recognition they crave for their… unique… world view

i only worry they won’t have much time to enjoy it

( oh, it’s not about them? they’re not the only ones? :crying_cat_face: )

President Donald Trump is reportedly encouraging the Food and Drug Administration to approve oleander plant extract to treat COVID-19, despite the fact that the dietary supplement has not been proven to treat the disease, according to an Axios report. Oleandrin, the experimental extract, was presented to the president in July during an Oval Office meeting and has been touted by Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson, as well as MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell. Lindell is a key Trump supporter who recently invested in the company producing the unproven extract.

Central premise: oleander is beautiful but poisonous.

I have a dentist appointment next week. If I could order and get this mask before then, I think I would do it.

Yeah, maybe not such a great idea.

It does have cardiac toxicity, just like his other fave, so maybe there is that?

And that the main authority figure in charge was a psychopathic narcissist who didn’t give a fuck about anyone but herself…

On the bright side, this will appeal mostly to turmp supporters, who will not be able to inadvertently infect others.

I don’t even feel bad that this was my first reaction.

ETA: Okay, I feel bad for any children poisoned by their stupid, stupid parents. That’s as far as my sympathies can stretch at the moment.

Three words: windfall profits tax. (Two of these assholes have big compounds here in Hawaii. Our economy is in the tank because of the tourism shutdown, we could use some of their money.)
