I don’t think we have to go that far: parents are not supposed to send kids to school with a cold. For many of them, their options are: send child with obvious cold to school or lose job. The calculus changes little.

oh, my! I have attended many comic con events around the country, including that glorious “Nerdi Gras” right there in Atlanta - Dragon*Con (what a supremely debauched event that one is!)

OK, let’s get this out of the way, kids do not seem to have nearly the risk that elders do from this virus. However, with the long term impacts still becoming clearer and less reassuring, I feel this is an experiment we really need to not do.
I suspect if you tried to get this through the standards for experimenting on human subjects, you’d get laughed out of the room… 
I was wondering about this earlier today, since the weather is turning colder. With unemployment so high, it seems like a lot of companies have been in a similar situation. Next month the news will probably be full of other reopening efforts that failed.

Unsurprising. Tennessee has no statewide mask mandate and is all aboard the “open everything” train of doom. Several of the counties in the Nashville metro area do have mask mandates, but they’re the exception.

This statistic threw me. I was certain Joe had screwed up and this was false. It is not. Damn. 0.1% of the entire Black population of the US died of covid-19. So far!
