Just to clarify in case people don’t click through: they weren’t drinking it as a prevention of disease. It’s related to alcoholism, but the only reason they had access to the sanitizer was due to Covid precautions at jails and prisons.
It’s really sad. I couldn’t find it online, but when my father was a kid there was a spate of blindness and deaths on a Native American reservation in northern Maine when they got a “bad batch” of sterno? Vague memory of the story…

I am trying to use willfully ignorant instead of stupid as being anti-mask is a choice, not a disability.
It also works with a lot of other issues that Republicans and other far-right groups support.

I have known many intelligent people (myself among them) who have done very stupid things. So yes, IMHO you can say that an action or decision is stupid without reference to the intelligence of the actor.
