Yup, 'cause that’s how viruses do. Fuck.
And — based on some recent news — even after having recovered from the virus, survivors can expect permanent physical damage. If anyone has any updates to share on that… this is the place.

Not possible to have true long term outcome data on a disease that is less than a year old, but there are a frightening number of people who are still struggling months after infection. More data will come, but the toll in human suffering is going to be enormous.
Perhaps even closer to a test to a determine personality type that is easily angered by regulations (perceived as being ordered around); that test addresses the anger (very well-demonstrated so far) and the refusal to wear a mask.
In case anyone was feeling slightly less pessimistic:
I did chuckle at that… but not with a little pathos thrown in.

nothing mutations like more than the ability to breed for variation. if america wasn’t such a wellspring of hosts, the number of cases would be lower ( we might not be counting but the virus sure is ) and the number of viral generations would be lower.
i hate being a petri dish 
Italy showed us what could happen. We did nothing because “it won’t happen here.” New York showed us it could happen here. We did nothing because, what NYC is Democratic? Now it is happening in FL, TX and AZ and there is nothing we can do because, you know what, there is no goddam reason we cannot do anything! We do nothing because we choose to do nothing because it is inconvenient. And I need to stop because I cannot see straight. 
I cannot even begin to tell you how much this enrages me. I have been told by multiple medical personnel that because of my medical issues (including the damage from stage 3 cancer treatment), getting covid would almost certainly kill me. Watching that video, I actually responded physically as if I were defending myself in real life (old Karate moves, if you’re interested). I think we are going to get to that point in our country, where people start physically fighting back when people do this, because it is so egregious and so scary. We’re literally fighting for our lives against covidiots.
You can’t blame them. We are idiots!
And those piercing guns are not sterile, they can’t be sterilzed beyond spraying them down. Plus the trauma to the skin. A piercing gun pretty much forces a reatively blunt object through the skin. A nice clean piercing from a professional peircer will heal more quickly with less chance of infection and they use sterile equipment!
