But now which country will the US Know Nothing/Do Nothings use as their target example, North Korea?
The north of Ireland is in a strange place right now.
It currently has a lower death rate from COVID-19, but itās having a much worse second wave than the Republic.
National lockdown in Wales starts friday, or āfirebreakā or whatever the hell they want to call it.
And she was just gonna be attending? That seems worrisome.
Oh hell, these writersā¦

Thatās because it only attacks people with underlying conditions, unlike the flu. /s
Grinning sociopaths for whom there will never be consequences.
So rural authorities will send them to urban hospitals, all the while talking shit about āliberal citiesā.
Fair enough. Weāre just going to say he wouldnāt have gotten sick if he didnāt blow the goats.
Ireland is going into a second lockdown to get this under control, and what really struck me about this story is that their government is recognizing the economic pain this causes, and is taking such strong steps to ensure people and businesses get the support they need, unlike the U.S. federal government.
Right now many states are (wisely) putting limitations on which businesses can open, and to what capacity. But without federal support and with the requirement to balance their own budgets, the states lack the resources to provide the full support that would be needed to prevent the affected businesses from closing and the resulting permanent job losses for many people.
Iām working for a large entertainment-related company thatās been completely closed since mid March, and we finally got reopening guidelines from our state today. Looks like we wonāt be able to open in any capacity until probably next year. Maybe thatās the right decision as far as public health goes, but man, there are a lot of people who are permanently losing their jobs over this, as well as many supporting businesses that are closing their doors as well. A lot more support from the Feds is needed, and thanks to McConnell it looks unlikely to come any time soon.
Thatās a mighty long time, and the long term effects of Covid are not known.
I expect that Atlas will soon be infected, if he isnāt already.
Ugh, just another way President Petty could strike back at blue states on the way out. Weāve been seeing news about the impending state budget disasters for months now. By December, there will be reports on deficits, dire predictions for departmental cuts, and drama surrounding tax increases.
Weāve ruled out Spring and Summer already. Weāre doing virtual events, but weāre talking something like a 90% drop in income.
Not gonna happen. Weāre not even trying and anyway it happens all island or not at all. NI has, last I checked, roughly 3 times the rate of infection and border counties in Ireland are about three times the rate of Dublin.
Government has this wrong. We are going to see saw in and out of lockdown. They were advised to do a 4 week one 2 weeks ago, leaked the advice, briefed against it and the deputy prime minister (the doctor who used to be the Taoiseach but lost the job in the coalition as his party flunked to third place in the election due to neoliberal housing policy) publicly shat on the chief medical officer in the media. A political commentator I know thinks theyāll get it right third time. This is just a doomed attempt to save Christmas by a government that leaks against each other and fails to take responsibility
As for the North? Well they are governed by shitheads like these:

When you see which British* groups are affiliated with people like Ulster Scots for Trump it should be obvious that they are anti-antifa.
* Yes, that was deliberate. I donāt care about pissing off Unionists.
