I work for a charity that houses refugees. Can you stop calling these people “Migrants”? That word has all sorts of connotations that are inappropriate and irrelevant. They aren’t “migrating” - they are not coming temporarily and planning to return. They are not passerenes or waterfowl. They are REFUGEES. That is, people who are seeking a refuge. They are fleeing threats of death, loss of livelihood, military rape and starvation. In using the word “migrant” you are accepting a deformation of ideology perpetrated by the far right. If you use the word “migrant” you are failing refugees. Please don’t do that.
