Not sure it this helps, but my architecture prof once shot down one of my designs with an argumentation that boiled down to symmetry ≅ fascism.

I don’t think having a drink every 4.5 days makes you an alcoholic…But adults going to Disneyland every 4.5 days sounds like a bit of a problem.

Alcoholism comes in many, many varieties. You’d be surprised.

Um, ok, I guess? I generally don’t have a problem with buildings or facades that are asymmetric. But buildings that look like they’re trying and failing to be symmetric like this one hit me the same way that bad kerning does.

When you are inside, drinking your precious beverage, contemplating the hoi-polloi milling outside the window, knowing that your status is causing them discomfort – that makes your membership worthwhile.

In a place where almost everything is carefully put in place to achieve a design purpose, that window sticks out like a sore thumb in a pretty obvious spot for folks looking at New Orleans Square.

Like I said having a drink an average on ever 4.5 days doesn’t make someone an alcoholic. I didn’t say they couldn’t be alcoholics.
