Sure, but thanks to the herd mentality if you get one you get them all. Then you just have to worry about getting them to hold a pen. And teaching them how to write their name.

On the flip side, remember that an essential part of the story is the flies can’t land on black and white surfaces. Nature is also dumb.

That’s one possible factor, but the paper also points to brightness modulation, which seems like a more pronounced effect.

Back in college, I used to love their sandwiches: fried (something that might once have been chicken) + mayo + pickle + amorphous bread stuff = delicious and cheap.

They ruined that when they tried to make them upscale. Less flavor for more money.
