The saddest part is that her sense of herself as a moral person, and as the progeny of moral, and intelligent people requires that she be dismissive of challenging scientific concepts. She’s of a group of people whose source of morality is the fount of a magical book. To see any crack whatsoever appear means that she would lose her moral compass and sense of her place in time and space completely. I can’t believe evolution hasn’t weeded this weakness out…
Because, for some odd reason that eludes me, the society does not provide the necessary selection pressures.
So far it feels rather like it prefers selection away from rational and towards emotional style of thinking/deciding, and likes putting a social survival penalty on having a brain.
The best part is definitely when she says certain dinosaur skulls actually came from dragons, and there’s a huge coverup to pretend dragons didn’t exist because they disprove science’s entire timeline. I have a unicorn horn I’d like to sell her.
