I’d watch that.
I was going to put this up the other day, and then I thought sure who would remember anyway? And then I thought that well, that’s the point.
Achim Szepanski has died. Mille Plateaux/Force Inc. were really influential in the 90s and early 00s with pretty uncompromising visions of music. I was looking at the early roster on teh wikis the other day and thinking I had records by nearly all of them. It’s not what I’m going to be listening to but it certainly informed the making of music for generations of musicians.
I like that the first person is someone who had a falling out with him and expresses what a difficult git he was. There are others to speak to his generosity and kindness.
I really didn’t know anything about him back when I was buying the music.
RIP!
Maybe now they’ll induct him into the hall of fame
Not unless they change their own rules.
I’m pretty sure his lifetime ban is over.
Too soon?
It’s like the rock’n’roll hall of fame, jeebus who cares, the work speaks for itself; MLB’s all-time leader in hits, games played, at-bats, singles and outs. He won three World Series championships.
Anyone who cares about the game knows about his accomplishments and his career. I mean how much validation does a mortal need. Rarely has “rest in peace” felt so relevant.
Don’t forget tax evader and possibly rapist. And he was also kind of an asshole, so I really don’t feel bad for the guy.
He was also in Roots.
Poor Frank. Compared to Mike, he wasn’t as personable, but I feel like he got a raw deal when they dumped him from the show, for reasons never explained. It seems like he never recovered.
