I’ll chime in first without reading the thread; @Daaksyde’s post got me thinking: there are basically two poles of influence at work here.
Proper sci-fi, which teaches us that all laws are local, and the fucking MPAA, which teaches us that we’re not to sympathise with anyone the Catholics, Mormons, or NRA don’t like.
I know which side I’m on.
