That may not be strictly correct.
It seems that only a few weeks back that there was a mass slaughter of the US Mink population after it was found that they had Covid19. At that time it was reported that it was suspected it had been passed to them by human contact. I reflected at that time that once it passes into the animal population the chances of getting rid of it (or it naturally dying out) are lost. It could be lurking “in the wild” to arise periodically any time. Cats and dogs can contract it too. This makes the need for a reliable vaccine all the more urgent.
