Derails about the narrative of bans for dissenting opinions

Well yeah, that’s nihilism 101.

You seem to have chops, I appreciate people who make me stop and think, not everyone does; but the culture of commenters you will find here are more open to it than most.

Oh,please, yes, tell me all about the community here. I was born yesterday!

I’m not a nihilist. I merely enjoy the dialectic.

Sarcasm detected! hehe

The lone wolf role is so appealing, I know because I’ve induged in it myself for a loong time and still do consider myself an extreme outlier, even here on boingboing.

But I do appreciate the rationality, the ability to actually change a persons mind, when the skill level can be so high.

And I’m not suggesting you not be a lone wolf, just to game the situation, make headway with your ideas, otherwise; why engage in the first place?

edit: dialectic sort of implies more than one party, although I have read awesome examples of Zen masters just annihilating others who don’t have Samsara or some other point of the cannon. Hmm

I said I enjoy the dialectic. It is it’s own reward.

Apologies, edited my comment after you edited yours above.

What I mean is, the dialectic concerning non transcendent topics should always be a debate with two dissenting views working towards development of more sophisticated synergies of the core ideas. Unless you are speaking from a point of enlightenmet or actual transcendent topic, that, I think, is the only possible topic on which one can be completely right and the other… well, no better than a rock.

And in those cases, wading in just to destroy the other with dialectic should be allowed but in (almost?) every other circumstance it is a debate to decrease entropy. On both sides.

Right. There are more than one parties involved. The Lone wolf thing is all your idea (not mine). Just because I have no goal changing someones mind doesn’t mean I want to talk to myself.

…gotta go exercise.

Keep the physical up with the mental.

Well, none to you.

or me.

yes, it’s a cop out when other people do it. Got that.

I think I was the lab rat in question in this case (and I think @anon50609448 as well).
