Developers are worth more to tech companies than cash

Bad managers could be automated easily. But good managers serve a useful purpose, sitting in on meetings so that the techs can stay focused on work, and using human judgment and negotiation/discussion skills to determine and clearly define what work they should be focusing on and what the priorities should be. Those soft skills would be relatively hard to automate. Especially the parts involving negotiating with customers and trying to figure out what they’re talking about.
