Didn’t the driver still have some hours left on the driving-with-instructor part of her drivers ed course? And isn’t all that moot now, because getting into an accident while driving on a permit means no permit/license until 18? And isn’t she almost 18 anyway, because most city kids aren’t in a hurry to learn how to drive? And usually don’t have drivers ed in their schools either, as was the case here, so it takes more effort and cost to set it up?
And wasn’t it reasonable of the state troopers to agree that it was a true “accident”, as opposed to being due to some chargeable driving offense? (Rookie drivers…they really don’t have the experience yet.)
