Like my new Band name: ‘The World Lines’?
Of the line, by the line, and for the line? Or is that going to far over it?
#moar spoils
I haven’t read the second book yet but I’ll be dissapoint if they don’t at least meet the creator of the Long Earth, won’t I just?
If they were made of a flaxen fabric, would they be linen lines?
How many pounds of flax do you think that would take?
Legally, are we allowed to lay linen lines by latitude, or longitude?
@anon61221983 Ain’t I jumping out for a time, won’t I be back?
Wasn’t that awesome-cool-double-plus-good-talk?
Laterally, loquaciously, lest less legal locution leaves languorous levity?
Isn’t it a pile of utter dreck, The Long War even more so than the first?
Like a cyborg? Does that change what it means to be human? Do we even know that?
Do you mean like in Venture Brothers? In that case, what about the position of the physical clone itself? If it’s grown apart from the consciousness, what about the physical body itself? Can we grow a human body without consciousness in order to impress upon it consciousness? Am I making a tautology?
In that case, what about the individual in all this?
Isn’t that a question of whether consciousness exists outside of the collective anyway? Would a person, who grew up outside of any human contact be human in the same way as we are? Isn’t that a good, philosophical question to focus on?
Wouldn’t that be a real possibility? Wouldn’t we all like a clear answer as to where we begin and end, as individuals, if we do at all?
Isn’t the good stuff disconnected from the big names, from the Zizeks or Spivaks, and don’t those ideas rise above their origins to become broad issues which we all talk about?
Because isn’t part of philosphy attempting to come to terms with ethics and morality?
No, but shouldn’t we at least talk about possibilities overall?
Dont’ I wish you good luck on the problem?
Do they? What about the rest of humanity?
Why shouldn’t the humanties be deserving of the same push from us all?
Isn’t it the same with ideas, which also alter humanity and how it imagines itself? Isn’t the best science also shot through with philosophical and ethical ideas which take seriously considerations about their utility to us as human beings? Isn’t the whole point of the article about how luddism is less about a knee-jerk reaction to technology and more about shaping technology to be more response to human needs and to the human good, which is something I think you’re on board with in the sense that you want technology to be accessible to more people so that they can improve their lives on their own terms?
Are we? How can we evaluate this concept? How do we known it’s simulation?
I dunno, was it?
Aren’t you guys great for engaging in this absorbing and deeply dialectical discussion? Isn’t this what good philosophy does, work dialectically to come up with something new?
Holy fuck, do you think Donald has Dan Harmon’s number? Doesn’t this. Need. To. Happen??
Can you please ask Jebus if he’ll pick up a six pack and a loaf of bread after church? Oh, and is he OK with artichoke dip, or should I make french onion?
Got it, happy to ask, and (yes,) I really will.
Anyone else?
ETA - Matter of fact, since @monkeyoh asked first, I’ll do his first thing during the Sacrament. That’s how you do if you’re serious about an answer.
Can you ask Jesus if I should add more cross bracing to the ceiling I just installed, or just be cool with it?
Wasn’t he also a carpenter?
That’s two questions, got it. I’ll let you know if I get a clear answer.
Anyone else?
I forgot to ask - do I need to pay for this Jebus messaging service you provide?
Completely free of charge. But only for my friends?
Jebus wants you in on the ground floor!
The one question that comes to my mind when given the conceit of "if you could, what would you ask God?:
Why mosquitoes?
Got it, no problem. WTF mosquitos?
