Hmm… wonder are the APIs to access battery levels particularly energy-hungry (like Bluetooth, WiFi, location etc.). Would be nicely meta if using this app had an “observing alters the thing observed” effect!
That’ll be great for your Li-ion batteries.
Measuring the battery’s fullness is basically free. You have to measure the slowly dropping voltage coming from the battery (which is a proxy for its remaining power) to compensate for it anyways. This reddit thread explains it nicely: https://www.reddit.com/r/explainlikeimfive/comments/1qrdc9/eli5how_do_digital_devices_know_how_much_energy/
Having the screen on would be the biggest drain here. They’re trying to minimize drain for folks with OLED screens by using a solid black background, but that doesn’t help for any other screen type.
I’m dyeing my battery right now.
Click-bait, nothing to do with the Type O negative track.
What’s the point???
Too much drama.
Cool!
What color?
Cool idea, except I never let my phone get below 40% most days so I’d never get to use it at all.
But you can’t see if your mate has a charger at the ready.
