Discussion of “Defund the Police” slogan

of course I could totally misread the situation over there from over here.

Over here in europe (well, germany to be exact) ‘defund the police’ makes people not understand the point. But maybe it’s understood differently over there.

I consider myself a centrist, because in the scope of world politics and especially North American and European politics, I am. But even if the average American voter is to the left of both parties, I’m even more to the left.

These swing voters don’t really exist as a demographic. They are a statistical anomaly. Not enough to cause an entire state to flip. You need voter suppression for that.

Yup. Rules are definitely going to work. Definitely.

No, but he’s happy to give up hundreds of lives because of HIS stupid department policy. Just, not his life. He’s special.

95% of police don’t live in the community there? Wow.

His points need to be taken up in every community that has tax money out-flowing to the white suburbs like that. As he said “for the rest of their lives”, because of pensions especially.

Especially since funding police is so often justified through euphemisms like “investing in our local communities.”

Naw, you’re channeling untold millions out of the local community and investing it in neighboring communities.

Money isn’t the only thing that white supremacy siphons away from those communities:

It’s the 3/5ths Compromise, except without the 3/5ths.

Because “reform” and new rules will fix this:

Sometimes you need to accept that something is too broken to fix and get something new that actually works.

Reform this, how?

I think we can reform all white people’s thinking about Chicago.

If we charged a penny fine for every “well golly gee Chicago” comment from some clueless white person who’s never even been there, we could use that money to solve all of Chicago’s problems. Hell, we could probably solve all the world’s problems with that kind of money.
