It’s a bit odd that way, isn’t it? My take was that he was trying to keep this off the radar, whether for professional reasons (anti-moonlighting clauses) or personal reasons (e.g. shame). If he was trying to keep it quiet, it’s hard to use those high-profile skills.
But that’s just a guess. There’s obviously something else to this story, but we can’t know what.
