I can get a VPL card free if I live in Greater Vancouver (already have one); I think this is pretty common for library cards.

Just tried it, and can confirm it works great in Australia.
I get a free library card in my council. We also live next to a council with a rather big library that isn’t free for non-residents but it still worth the nominal fee they charge. This extension handles both quite nicely.

Fantastic. I had a bunch of books that seemed interesting that I’d added to an Amazon wishlist many years ago, and I was able to delete several of them thanks to this extension. I’d actually forgotten about them or else I might have tried looking them up manually, but this was much faster- plus one of them was only on the Internet Archive, where I wouldn’t have remembered to look if it hadn’t been an option when setting up the extension.
