Drums of War

Things that get delivered in darkness…

“Multiple witnesses told CNN that Yemeni authorities, backed by the Saudi-led coalition, have been arresting and questioning those they suspect of leaking (the video) to the media.”

As always, this is just imperial business as usual. But with the mask ripped off and the quiet part loud.

“…geopolitical arguments didn’t move Trump an inch. So Sen. Lindsey Graham—Trump’s most loyal political defender but also a fervent advocate for the Kurds—shifted tactics to focus on something he figured the president would understand: finances. According to NBC News, Graham and Jack Keane—an influential retired Army general who, back in 2007, persuaded President George W. Bush to order a “surge” of troops to Iraq—brought maps into the Oval Office, showing Trump the network of oil fields across the region, including in Syria.”

If true, it’s just one more example of his childish behavior.

Apparently Trump is perfectly happy to scuttle our alliance with South Korea. China is waiting in the wings to take over.

Yet more evidence that a pile of fetid dingo kidneys would be a better option that Trump. At least the kidneys would not actively be trying to sabotage our national interests.

This sounds a lot like Putin asking trump “What the fuck is the hold up?”.

Less than 12 months to get a war going before the elections. Gotta get rolling! (/s, but I fear not nearly /s enough.)

“Brilliant”.

Sheesh. In response to BOTH of them.

At least she gave an answer. Corbyn has been asked this many times over the years, and always refuses to give a straight answer (the video I linked below is typical).

The problem UK politicians have is that Trident is still a major component of the Scottish economy, and only exists to deploy nuclear weapons. Your options are to: (a) Wholeheartedly support the program; that means you are probably a Tory. (b) Propose dismantling of the UK nuclear deterrent, including Trident; that will probably lose you your Scottish MPs, especially if the Scottish shipbuilders union is part of your core party constituency. © Avoid the question, or come up with ridiculous plans like retaining Trident but without the nukes.

Corbyn’s political hero was Tony Benn, who was passionately anti-nuke and in favor of dismantling the lot, so I suspect that Corbyn feels the same way, but you really can’t tell this from his answers the dozens of times he’s been asked.

Notable: “We are changing the rules. Even when it comes to almost negligible attacks, whose impact is small, we are changing the equation, and our retaliatory attack will be widespread…"
