I do have a friend, who at the time was a helicopter instructor, who’s boss got in a bit of trouble (a wrist slap), for landing on a sandbank in the middle of the river Severn. Not because it was illegal per se, but just because landing on a tidal sand bank, in a river with the second biggest tides in the world, is somewhat foolish.
