And we still have politicians denying what obviously happening. We might have a chance if we start making changes now, but far too many people refuse to support good legislation to mitigate climate change… Instead, they spend their time writing laws to hurt people they don’t like…

… my A.C. works fine, it’s the wiring in my house that can’t handle it
Any chance the breaker can be upgraded for that line?
RV’s use something called a soft starter for ac units that prevents it from tripping the breaker when the compressor starts up. It lowers the draw upon start up up to 70%. I wonder if some portable units could use something like that?
Or maybe run a thick 12 or 14 gauge commercial extension cord to the unit from a less encumbered outlet?
… the fear is if the landlord really knew what an uninhabitable hole this is he’d just kick us all out and knock it down
In the mean time it is not future-climate-proof
I didn’t say to tell the landlord.
As of mid-August, more than 200 ships were stuck at the canal. On August 26, CNN warned that the situation is “not a good sign for supply chains – or your holiday shopping”.
And with the Panama Canal now threatening to dry up, the country is playing host to an intersection of the global climate crisis, the global refugee crisis and the inequalities of a global economic model of exploitation championed by the US.
If we don’t curb the effects of our changing climate, it’s believed that “over 90 percent of emperor penguin colonies will be ‘quasi-extinct’ by the end of the century.”
Fighting with privileged hipsters isn’t helping.
The argument on the topic about climate activists blocking a street in DC is they’re inconveniencing the wrong people, ordinary individuals trying to get by. People driving out into the middle of the desert to throw an expensive party with influencers and tech bros flying in on private jets are like the direct opposite of that. If neither is helping, I guess we’re just saying don’t bother with protests?
Happy hurricane surfing @FloridaManJefe! Stay safe.

Papa Frank is about to drop a new letter about Climate change…
This and global economic inequality are two places that his Latin American roots really shine through, I think, as the Social Teaching had made a bigger impact there than in other parts of the world.
