Apple has been a bank with a sideline in consumer electronics for some time now.
Not to mention services like CreditKarma are joining the game with savings accounts at 4% or more.
ETA: It should also be noted that for many of these online banks, the high interest rate is only good up to a certain amount deposited, and then it tapers down.
