Four dead in garlic festival mass shooting

Nor do reputable news sources generally pay subjects for interviews, let alone publicly entice survivors of a mass shooting with the prospect of payment while the details of the tragedy are still unfolding.

Do you scream at all the news platforms or just this one?

[To Scott Adams --Mod]

Yes, all of them.

Although it’s cute that you think this useless bag of shit is a “news platform”, you poster child for social retardation.

You’re absolutely right, but the thing is collectively 'we’ have decided not to bother with that elephant in the room. It’s pretty clear that it would take something truly truly horrific (dozens of children and adults dead is not enough) to make ‘us’ revisit this stance.

We’ve been though and praying our way through this for 20+ years, we’re not about to stop. (Columbine was April 20, 1999)

I use quotes around we and us, partly because I’m from the land of igloos up north, though we’re not that much better, and mostly because there are of course many many people who are outraged by this, but not to the tipping point of having something done.

Oh, he’s that big an asshole.

From the Gizmodo article…

“he continued to stand by his promotion efforts and blamed the controversy on socialism”

Well, now we know what he was, just another conservative white terrorist having an Instagrammable moment.

He takes a 20% cut, of nothing so far.

There’s been gang violence there before, and apparently a stabbing in 1993, but I’m not sure about shootings, though ISTR at least brandished weapons in recent years.

When is the White Community going to deal with its hitler-youth / gunman problem?

/sarcasm

Why sarcasm? The white community has been the source of every political extremist killing in the US in the last year or so. White conservative terrorism is normalized and denied and excused. The white community has never apologized for this the way it demands that all Muslims excoriate themselves when a Muslim does something bad.

Oh, not all whites. There are good parts of the white community, and most whites are great people like you or me. But when whiteness becomes an ideology it becomes violent.

He was supposedly influenced by this book

The far right have latched onto the supposed anarchist influence and are claiming this proves he was part of antifa, but it seems like it is far closer to the blatant far-right politics of Hoppean Libertarianism.

The founding fathers did OK, but their words have been horribly twisted from their original intent. The second amendment begins with “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State…” clearly places the need for gun ownership to be part of a “well-regulated Militia”. If that’s how you want to interpret it, fine — while you’re on active military duty, in the reserves, or otherwise serving your State in a military capacity, you should be able to own guns. It’s not nearly as bad as today’s unlimited gun ownership.

But now read the last half of the amendment: “the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” They didn’t say it’s the right of each citizen, but of the collective “people”. The people of a State can have an army (which the State must well-regulate, of course); that army has the unlimited right to own arms. The 2nd amendment really says the government can’t prevent the States from forming armies.

So it means the states can form armies that can rise up against the federal government for when the federal government becomes unjust; but it says nothing about the right of individuals, because individuals are not well regulated.

I’ve got some right wing friends who are always talking about “black on black” crime, and “why won’t the black community do something about…”
