I read that article, but nothing about where I live (Small Town, NC) would seem to warrant a price increase. ???

There must be more to it than just geography, because I’m a thousand miles away and also seeing $7.69

I didn’t see the original price, but because Amazon collapses sellers into one listing, it’s quite possible there was a seller with some stock for $6 that subsequently sold out.
