Perhaps because understanding gene therapies, and even awareness of their existence, has fairly higher return on investment than quarreling over symbolisms and making up problems where there were none to start with. Molehill2Mountain, aka M2M, seems to be a beloved technology these days.
Such research also gives quite a lot of hope. Both for curing existing impairments and for improving baseline performance.
We have to redesign and improve our species itself. The possible ways are many; and no amount overthinking of a design of a stupid icon will help with any of them.
