That’s a development for them. I remember my Japanese professor in college explaining to the class that the legal age for things in Japan was essentially when you were tall enough to press the buttons on the vending machine.
Those wouldn’t fly in the US because the store is likely liable if a minor comes in with a “borrowed” ID.
Voice activated anything is an immediate no for me. I don’t think my accent is all that thick but the voice-recognition apps or customer help desks all fail miserably.
The Morrison’s by me, has self check out and AI cameras, at the till, and if you dont pay for items, it wont open the gate to let you, the gate has like 4 cams ether side of it, they stand out a mile, to scan your face and see if you have paid, and if you dont end up buying anything, then you have to walk out a manned till they wont let you leave that way.
