Mallory? It’s Alice, Bob, Carol, etc. Alternating female/male names in increasing alphabetical order. (And primarily female, which is refreshing given geekdom’s entrenched misogyny.)
As in hitting open SMB/CIFS/Samba ports with “admin:123456” login attempts? I think there’s an important step or two missing from this story.
The third party is very often not named Carol.
“Eve” is quite common.
