You’re probably thinking of a phenomenon called “mansplaining,” which is when a man condescendingly or patronizingly explains something to a woman, often on a topic that the woman actually has more direct knowledge of or experience in.

I wonder if, when Shakespeare dropped a new word in his latest play, the crowd used to yell, “What does that mean, Bill?!” To which he might have replied, “Work it out from the context, for fork sake!”
