…
I am glad they will be sending out tests again.
Er it is late September.
Knowing what virus you have is really nice - and a pretty modern improvement. But we can all do the right thing even without knowing - if you have a cough, a fever, vomiting, diarrhea, etc - self isolate as best you can and do what you can to avoid spreading the illness - stay home from work, don’t cough on the vegetable display at the grocery, take a school sick day. These are the lessons we should have learned from Covid; but as a society we appear not to have learned.
So… in the meantime — get your shots!!!
Yeah, someone in my pod tested positive this week & I was unable to find free tests anywhere. Medicare patients no longer qualify for the pop-up neighborhood testing sites in my city. Walgreens pharmacy is supposed to give out free tests to medicare patients but when I went in there, after some confusion, they had me fill out a form & said “if I qualify” I could pick up next day (which means again standing in line while I may be contagious). The library’s free test kit program is all out. Even my primary care provider was ignorant of the USPS free mailing delay. It’s especially unfortunate as COVID numbers are going up everywhere. All I wanna do is test today & stay safe for other people. Why should that be so hard?
Now available. I just placed my order.
where you get a link to the order form at USPS:
- Each order includes #4 individual rapid antigen COVID-19 tests
- Orders will ship free, starting September 30, 2024
Apparently one brand of the free tests is more accessible for people who are blind or have low vision, or have low manual dexterity.
More info about it here: Order free at-home COVID-19 tests | ACL Administration for Community Living with a link to a special page to order that particular test.
(They say “To ensure that these tests are reserved for people who truly need them, the link to this special page will not be published on the COVIDtests.gov home page.”)
