We do have a little jail down in the basement of the Capitol, but if we were arresting all of the people in the administration we would have an overcrowded jail situation. And Iā€™m not for that.

Thanks. I note that doesnā€™t categorically rule out putting Barr behind the bars, though. And Pelosi can definitely change her mind, depending on how things develop. So, weā€™ll have to see how this goes!

I have a lot of faith in Pelosi. She will always do what it takes to make sure the Democratic party does only what benefits her corporate donors. She is always quick to abdicate the responsibilities of congress whenever possible and keep the best interests of her party in mind at all times especially when itā€™s a choice between the nation and her party.

Iā€™m not sure how more parties would impact partisanship. Just look at whats going on in the UK, Isreal too. The same sort of partisanship exists. And you see plurality supported major parties forming unstable coalitions with tiny hardline ideological parties to cobble together bare majority control. You end up seeing the same sort of gridlock, wedded to a significantly less stable government. Or worse you see popular parties shifted to the extremes by association with tiny single issue and fringe parties. Most often right wing ones. You look around at multiparty and parlimentary governments over the last decade and thereā€™s a disturbing trend of large but not quite majority left wing parties teaming up with very small far right ones. Only for that to leave to rightward policy shifts, collapse, and electoral success for out and out fascists come election time.

Whatever else more parties might bring to the party here, breaking up partisanship probably isnā€™t one of them.

IMO her comments (linked above) only undermine their effort. All she accomplished was wiping away the difference in status from ā€œnot held in contemptā€ and ā€œheld in contemptā€.

What should happen is that now that Barr is held in contempt, with threat of jail, he should be pressed to compromise, and if he is unwilling to budge then itā€™s time to introduce him to his new orange suit.

So exactly who are they going to get to arrest him?
