Huh? That’s actually a crime thats on the books in Texas? Presumably you then have felony terroristic threats? Aggravated terroristic threats?
Are minor terroristic threats common enough in Texas that they hand out tickets for them?
That’s the fictional one. The one where the police find you with an arduino and a stopwatch and want to charge you with embarrassing white police officers that think you’ve made a bomb.
Scaredy-cat white cop unjustifiably shoots black man is so disappointingly
de rigueur as to barely qualify as news. However, the charge
“misdemeanor terroristic threat” takes us into the Twilight Zone of
cop-speak, where any action by anyone can be “interpreted” as scary enough to
deserve an instant death sentence.
This state of affairs will remain unchecked so long as our society tolerates
the coupling of the power to wield death with zero accountability and places
them in the hands of unimaginative cowards.
Why is this man still in jail?! Anyone with the tiniest sliver of a brain can figure out the cop is a lying piece of crap.
As soon as the man’s bag was searched it should have been obvious.
But… SOME ONE THREATENED A COP! (Actual threat may or may not have happened and for threats against a cop, is immaterial to the argument. A threat vs cop, real, interpreted, imagined or fabricated shall be treated as The Truth™ )
This shooting is obviously unjustified but I too find it disconcerting when people come up to my car at a stoplight and start screwing with my car. And they usually seem to do it when I have just washed it and their efforts are just messing up the wash.
Mr Martin was black? I’m shocked!
only one of the two officers sitting in the vehicle fired their weapon
So that’s good then
Texas, oh how you never disappoint.
To commemorate MLK day here in Houston a police officer shoots an unarmed black man on MLK Blvd and then puts the victim in jail. It sure is nice to live in this post-racial america where King’s dream has been recognized. /S
We need to change the incentives. Right now, if a cop shoots the wrong person, nothing happens unless the victim is a rich white guy. On the other hand if he doesn’t shoot the person then the cop might get hurt. The cop has little incentive to not shoot anybody who looks at him funny.
Face it, we’re all terrorists now, and have been since at least September 2001.
Muslims.
People of color.
Trade unions.
Environmental activists.
Now we can add “window washers” to the list as well.
Who am I forgetting?
Oh, makers and viral marketeers too.
Someone here is keeping a list of things that frighten cops. We need to add “car washes.”
FTFY!
Also acceptable substitution: Florida
The important difference here is that if I attempt to kill someone for touching my car, I know I’m going to jail. Cop does it, he knows he’ll get two weeks of paid administrative leave.
