I’m simply adopting the perspective of two characters, both of which exist in the external noosphere. Perhaps you are already familiar with the perspective that humanities should be judged by metrics such as ROI-- metrics that are popularized by schools of management and business. A school that takes this reductionism seriously would not “waste” its time on Faust.
And I don’t imagine Mike Ehrmantraut to be sentimental-- though admittedly, I haven’t yet seen the last two seasons.
One of the reasons that I still use Kindle is that it remembers my place across different devices. I can read at home, then read at lunch on my phone and it remembers where I was. It only does this for Kindle downloads - if I put a non-Kindle book in my reader it doesn’t bookmark.
User interface and convenience is enough for me to pay Amazon.
