The only eldritch detail in this story is a pocket big enough for an iPad. I have dreams, but none that lofty.
I’m always amazed at the range and quantity of large objects that come in and out of pockets in 19th century novels. They for sure could have carried an iPad in their pockets.
I’m puzzled by the product images - the upper half of the support arm is fully rubber padded, yet all of the action shots it’s tilted such that only the top edge of the arm is in contact with the device. Is this like those app adds that show it being done wrong so that people will presumably want to participate just to do it correctly?

That’s find until you want to charge your iPad. There’s not enough space at the bottom for the cable. I use this adjustable stand.
I haven’t read advertising copy like that since the 90s.
Bravo!
Dumb ad is dumb
I am pretty sure it means “oblong”
