How Rick and Morty's cool became cringe

To be fair, you have to have to be as smart as Dan Harmon to understand Rick and Morty.

I’ve heard of the annoying R&M fans, but I don’t think I’ve ever come across any in the wild though, I must be lucky in my choice of internet.

It’s because Dan Harmon wrote a character that is really smart, and really flawed, and packed the show with funny jokes that were sometimes smart but often just juvenile, and cool sci-fi action. Then a bunch of idiots liked the jokes and the sci-fi action, and thought Rick was really cool, and ignored all the stuff about his flaws, and just identified with his intelligence which, because they got the jokes in the show, they (incorrectly) thought they shared.
